Moa Ilar misses the World Cup competitions in Oberhof

Setback for the national ski team.

Relay hero Moa Ilar misses this weekend’s World Cup competitions in Oberhof.

After some time off, the World Cup in cross-country skiing restarts this weekend with three days of competition in Germany’s Oberhof. Sweden fielded a strong squad yesterday, where among others Ebba Andersson and Marcus Grate are making a comeback.

But now it is weakening.

On Wednesday, the national ski team announced that Moa Ilar, who took her first podium in the World Cup this winter, has become ill and will miss the weekend’s race.

The 26-year-old has suffered from a cough and sore throat and is being replaced by Sofia Henriksson, who finished 27th in the Tour de ski.

Sprint, 20 kilometers in classic style and relays are on the program. The last time relays were decided in the World Cup was in Gällivare in December, when Moa Ilar secured the first victory on the women’s side in 14 years on the last leg.
