The stars were missing – ahead of Sweden’s WC semi
Just two days before the World Cup semi-final against Sweden, Spain has problems.
In Sunday’s training, the star duo Aitana Bonmati and Laia Codina were missing
On Tuesday morning Swedish time, Sweden and Spain meet in the WC semi-final. But today, just two days before the fateful match, two of Spain’s stars were missing from training.
Neither Aitana Bonmati nor Laia Codina participated in Sunday’s training. Both trained individually.
Midfielder Bonmati is one of Spain’s biggest stars and has been one of the team’s most important players during the World Cup. She has accounted for two goals and three assists.
In the quarter-final against the Netherlands, Aitana Bonmati was replaced after a duel with Jackie Groenen. And according to the Spanish media present at Sunday’s training in Auckland, that should be one of the reasons why she could not participate in the collective training.
– She knows she has to do a really good championship, there is a lot of pressure on her, says Maria Tikas on Spanish Sport.
The Swedish national team had training off on Sunday.
The semi-final between Sweden and Spain will be played on Tuesday in Auckland at 10.00 Swedish time.
