Alexander Isak goalscorer in Newcastle’s crush

Alexander Isak kicked off the Premier League season.

The Swede scored two goals in the opener against Aston Villa.

– A good start, notes Isak

The score was 1–1 in the opener against Aston Villa when Alexander Isak got the chance to push the ball in with his right foot. The Swede made no mistakes.

2–1 to Newcastle in front of the home fans.

Assist maker Sven Botman was in a suspected offside position, but after a long VAR review, the goal was approved.

In the second half, Isak scored his second of the evening. The striker took advantage of a mistake in Aston Villa’s back line and coolly lifted in 3-1.

– What a finish, it’s pure class from Isak, says Sky Sports’ Peter Smith.

Isaac is celebrated
Even the icon Gary Lineker pays tribute to Isak.

“What a lovely finish by Isak”, he writes on X and notes that he now leads the Premier League’s scoring league together with Erling Braut Haaland, on two goals.

Isak also had bids for a hat-trick, but had to settle for two goals. The Swede was replaced in front of a standing ovation with 20 minutes left to play.

– I had some problems with injury last season. But this was a good start, hopefully I can stay healthy now, says Isak to Sky Sports.

Isak was replaced by Callum Wilson who scored immediately. The match finished 5–1 after Harvey Barnes scored his first goal for Newcastle.

The new acquisition’s dream start
Newcastle got off to a good start in the opener. Italian new acquisition Sandro Tonali made it 1-0 after just six minutes.
